“The Age of Adaline” is
a great American romance fantasy drama directed by Lee Toland Krieger. The
movie was released in 2015 and from the beginning was a huge success. Apart
from corny plot this film has something that makes you want to watch it over
and over again.
Undeniable amazingly
well played lead role by Blake Lively can give everyone something to remember
apart from shockingly unrealistic events occurring in the movie. Michiel
Huisman also did a good job playing Ellis Jones – the son of the guy that
Adaline used to be with. Obviously Harrison Ford as the dad can’t be forgotten.
The cast made this soppy history pleasant and purely enjoyable.
Viewers meet a gorgeous,
young blond lady and few minutes later it comes out that she is actually over
100 years old. Her medical fluke gets explained later on. A near-fatal accident
in 1930s’ turned out for her to be a key to immortality. The moment when the lightning
strikes the freezing cold water in which almost dead Adaline is makes her stop
aging. The only person who knows about her strange medical case is her
daughter. After she turns 100 years, on New Year Party she meets Ellis, her
boyfriend-to-be. Not only does she not want to get to know him at first but she
also doesn’t even want to look at him or to hold a conversation. Days pass and
their relation gets serious – happy couple go to Ellis parents. Only his father
knows the whole truth about Adaline.
The special effects are
rather poor quality. However all of the bad sides of the movie get surpassed by
extremely well written scenario. I am greatly impressed with how well can be
made romantic drama. From the first minutes of the movie the complex plot drew
my attention. “The Age of Adaline” is an excellent and very engrossing movie.
Even if you don’t consider yourself as a romantic films enthusiast I can highly
recommend you to watch this one. You are not going to get bored.
